Cellardoor Winemaking Class

Have you ever wondered about the magic that turns a bunch of grapes (or a basket of fruit) into a beverage that has been savored by people for thousands of years? Come to our Introduction to Winemaking class and find the answers.

You will be guided through the artistry and science of making your own wine from the finest juices available. We will further stimulate your senses with an aroma identification demonstration – you too can identify the scents of currant, plum, and licorice.  And, of course, we will taste some fabulous food and Cellardoor wines.

You are invited to come back in a couple of weeks to rack and later to bottle and label your wine.

Class includes- juice and yeast, equipment kit to make this and future batches, 30 bottles of your own bottled wine, bottles and custom labels, Aroma identification/sensory evaluation class, heavy hors d’ouevres and wine tasting.

Class begins at 5:30 on August 19, 2010

Have you ever wondered about the magic that turns a bunch of grapes (or a basket of fruit) into a beverage that has been savored by people for thousands of years? Come to our Advanced Winemaking class and find the answers.

In our Advanced Winemaking class, students will be guided through the artistry and science of making their own wine from grapes.  Students will crush 100 lbs of red wine grapes, add yeast and nutrients to begin fermentation and learn the necessary steps to transform the fermenting grapes into wine.  After class, students will take their buckets of crushed grapes home to punch-down and analyze temperatures and brix levels daily.  Students are then invited to come back when the wine is ready to be pressed and then again when it is time to bottle and label the finished wine.

Class includes- 100 lbs of fresh red wine grapes, yeast and nutrients, additional equipment not provided in the beginner winemaking classes, 30 bottles of your own bottled wine, bottles, custom labels, along with wine tasting and heavy hors d'oeuvres during class.

Class begins at 4:00 on October 6, 2010

Price:

Package A) 1 Person  $275

Package B) 2 People to make one wine $300

Because space is limited pre-registration is required.  Students can register for class by calling 207-763-4478 or emailing events@cellardoorvineyard.com

*For the advanced class, students will need all the equipment from the beginner class once the wine is pressed (if you did not attend one of our beginner classes, please contact the winery to find out the equipment you will need for completing your wine).  If you do not have a second racking carboy or bucket, students are welcome to sign one out from the winery.
